The family of a Gold Coast teen stabbed to death is continuing its fight against youth violence with the emotional launch of a new foundation in a bid to prevent more senseless tragedies.

THE family of a Gold Coast teenager stabbed to death have launched a foundation in his honour to prevent more senseless tragedies.
Jack Beasley, 17, died after being stabbed in Surfers Paradise last month in an attack that horrified the Gold Coast and sparked calls for a crackdown on youth violence.

Jack’s father Brett has been active on social media in calling for change to youth justice laws, supporting a petition for airport-style security screens at Helensvale train station, the transport hub which connects the heavy rail line to the Gold Coast’s tram network.

The family has now launched the Jack Beasley Foundation, which aims to lobby for changes to youth justice laws and safety.
“(The family) have decided they want no other parent to experience the pain and grief they are currently living through and want to dedicate their efforts towards making necessary changes to the current youth laws, youth safety and more importantly, putting an education platform to teach the country’s youth about the dangers, repercussions and the snowball effect a single act of violence like this to one person has on the lives of so many,” the page reads.
“Stay tuned as we ensure Jack’s legacy will make positive changes in youths’ lives moving forward and the community as a whole.”
Mr Beasley also hit out at the court decision to grant bail to a 16-year-old charged with murder over his son’s death.
“It’s a joke, our family is absolutely heartbroken,” he wrote on Facebook this week.
