PARKWOOD teen Jack Beasley, 17, should have been celebrating his Year 12 results today and looking forward to the future, but instead his family are left with the grim job of planning his funeral.

The teen died after being stabbed in the chest outside an IGA supermarket in Surfers Paradise on Friday night.

Police were called to the horrific scene on Surfers Paradise Blvd just after 8pm.

The popular teen had just graduated from Pacific Pines State High School.

A keen rugby league player, Jack had played for the Helensvale Hornets from age five, all the way up to under 18s this year.

It was a family passion, with his mum taking up the role of treasurer for the club.

Club officials paid tribute to the youngster today.

“He was a fantastic kid loved by all that knew him. We are absolutely devastated and lost for words,” they said in a statement.
