AUSTRALIA’S tallest engineered timber office building will be unveiled in Brisbane today.
Situated at 25 King St, Bowen Hills, the 52m-high structure will house offices and retail facilities, but it’s the timber framing which makes it a real standout.
The first-of-its-kind building is decked out in 33 timber columns, 52 timber beams and approximately 21,175sq m of cross laminated timber floor and wall panels.
The building is targeting a 6-star Green Star rating and an innovative approach as opposed to the concrete and steel structures of modern buildings.
Lendlease’s managing director, urban regeneration, John Burton, said 25 King St was setting a new benchmark in environmentally sustainable buildings.
“Delivering the next generation of sustainable workplaces is a wonderful achievement for the Brisbane Showgrounds precinct,” he said.
“The building demonstrates greener and healthier ways of working.”
Global engineering firm Aurecon is set to take up almost half of the office space inside the nine-storey tower.
Aurecon senior project engineer Ellie Hubbard described it as a career highlight for her to see the “incredible outcome”.
Industrial Relations Minister Grace Grace and Impact Investment Group (IIG) will join Lendlease this morning celebrate the official opening of the building.
