A horrified parent claims teachers were forced to cover kids’ faces after a fight broke out between three grown women who were spitting and punching each other in a school car park south of Brisbane.

Brigita Grigutyte told The Courier Mail she was picking up her kid from school when she saw three women attacking each other in the carpark of Durack State School on Tuesday afternoon.

“I saw a mini-van and there was a mum pacing outside of it, she then stepped into the van on the driver’s side and another woman came behind her and grabbed the hijab and dragged her out of the car,” she said.

“They were going at it, spitting and throwing punches and pulling each other’s hijabs.”

Police are investigating after the incident and are asking anyone with information or relevant footage to come forward.

Police were called to the disturbance yesterday afternoon and initial investigations show about 3.15pm a verbal and physical altercation occurred between the group of people known to each other.

She said there was another woman who also got involved and sat on the women who had gone into the mini-van driver’s seat.

“They took off their shoes, and they were hitting her with their shoes,” she said.

“When I drove past, she was literally just down on the ground, and the teachers were covering the kids’ faces.

“There was a child whose eyes they were covering, and they were hugging him.

“I did see one teacher running around with a phone to her ear. So I’m guessing she called for back up.”

Ms Grigutyte there were a lot of people who saw it as it was right in the middle of school pick up.

“I was shocked,” she said.

“I’m beyond appalled and disappointed.

“It was absolutely disgusting and inappropriate behaviour. I was so close to pulling over and getting involved but I had a toddler in the car.

Ms Grigutyte said she couldn’t recover from what she witnessed.

“It happened so quickly,” she said.

“And seeing something like this in real life, out in the open, with other kids being so distraught, I was so shocked.”

Ms Grigutyte said this type of behaviour was not acceptable and she urged other parents to think of the children who had to witness it.

A Department of Education spokesman confirmed the incident at Durack State School.

“The Department of Education is aware of an incident that took place at Durack State School
