Alice Springs crime: Woman arrested after allegedly hitting man with car in Red Centre

A woman has been arrested after allegedly hitting a man with a car after a “verbal altercation”. Find out what happened.

August 22, 10am: Northern Territory Police say they’ve arrested a woman in the Red Centre after she allegedly struck a man with a vehicle.

Police in a statement said the woman allegedly hit the man about 3.10am on Wednesday in Alice Springs after the pair – who were known to each other – had been “involved in a verbal altercation” before the alleged incident.

The man was taken to Alice Springs Hospital for treatment of arm and leg injuries.

Police said they arrested the woman “a short time later”, and allege she was driving the vehicle when it struck the man.

Police said investigations were ongoing.

Youths nabbed after allegedly stealing car, robbing NT house

August 21: Northern Territory Police say the driver of a security vehicle is uninjured after it was allegedly rammed by a stolen car – with the youths allegedly behind the wheel arrested after a “coordinated response”.

Police said they first received reports of a gold Hyundai “driving recklessly” by an “unknown number of offenders” through the Alice Springs CBD at 1.30am on August 21.

Police believe the vehicle was “allegedly stolen”, and also allegedly “collided with the rear of a security vehicle”, before driving away.

“The security vehicle sustained minor damage, and the driver was uninjured,” a police statement read.

At 11am, police said they found the vehicle after being alerted of an alleged robbery on Dalby Court in East Side.

They said a “coordinated response” involving Strike Force Viper, the dog operations unit and general duties officers led to the arrest of four boys – three aged 13 and one 14-year-old – and four girls aged 13, 15, 16 and 17.

Police are now calling for more information in the incidents – including CCTV or dashcam footage – and urge the public to get in touch on 13 444, quoting reference P24226873.

Woman arrested for allegedly pinning man to wall with her car

August 20, 4pm: Northern Territory police have arrested a woman who allegedly struck and pinned a man known to her to a wall before fleeing in her vehicle.

A woman driving a silver BMW allegedly struck an adult man with her vehicle at a residential complex in Alice Springs about 7.40am on Tuesday.

She had allegedly driven into the complex and collided with a tree shortly before the incident.

Police allege she then drove towards the man, who was in front of his unit at the time, striking him and pinning him against a wall.

The two are believed to be known to each other.

She then allegedly fled the scene before police arrived.

Emergency services assessed the victim at the scene by St John Ambulance personnel for non-life threatening injuries to his legs and feet.

Police identified and found the woman a short time later at a nearby service station, where she was arrested and returned a positive alcohol breath test reading.

Police created two crime scenes and are investigating the incident.

Police charge man and woman over separate alleged ‘appalling’, ‘disgusting’ acts

August 19, 4pm: Northern Territory police say they have charged two separate people with assaulting a police officer after separate allegations of “appalling” behaviour.

Police said they laid the charges after a 29-year-old male and a 41-year-old female both allegedly spat in the face of officers in separate, unrelated incidents.

Police said the male allegedly spat in an officer’s face when he was being transported to Tennant Creek watch-house after being placed under arrest on Friday, August 16.

“The offender was being transported to a police vehicle when he allegedly spat in the face of one of the officers,” police said.

“The offender was conveyed to the Tennant Creek Watch House where he also allegedly spat on the legs of two other officers.”

Police said they charged him with three counts of assaulting a police officer in relation to the alleged spitting.

Police said the female allegedly spat in the face of a police officer in Alice Springs on Saturday afternoon, August 17.

The incident occurred when she was “being conveyed to the Alice Springs watch house”, police said.

“She was processed into custody without further incident and has subsequently been charged with one count of assault police.”

Deputy Commissioner Martin Dole said the alleged acts were “disgusting”.

“The two officers who were spat on to the face have had to attend their local hospital in order to get tests done to check for exposure to diseases, which adds unnecessary stress to their lives,” he said.

“The behaviour of these individuals is appalling, and anyone who engages in such actions will face prosecution.”

Police say cops in ‘collision’ with stolen car, two women assaulted in unrelated incident in Red Centre

August 19, 3pm: Northern Territory police say a cop car is undamaged after it was in a “collision” with a stolen car, while they also search for a man who allegedly assaulted two women in an unrelated incident.

Police say the “collision” occurred at 2.10am Monday, August 19, in Tennant Creek as police were searching for a vehicle allegedly stolen from a house earlier in the morning.

Police said the thieves allegedly stole the keys to a black Toyota Camry from the Limonite St premises on either Saturday or Sunday night.

“Around 1.40 this morning, the unknown offenders have allegedly returned to the residence and stolen the vehicle, driving it through a fence while fleeing the scene,” police said.

“The victim was home at the time and immediately reported the incident to police.”

Police said they spotted the stolen vehicle shortly after on Paterson St, where “the vehicle allegedly turned around and proceeded to collide with the rear of the marked police car”.

“No injury was caused to the police driver and the police vehicle received no damage from the collision,” police said.

No pursuit was initiated due to the “dangerous driving” of the stolen vehicle, police said.

The vehicle crashed at 2.25am, police said, with the offenders fleeing the scene.

Police said they were now searching for the offenders, with no injuries reported to them yet.

Meanwhile, in an unrelated incident on Sunday, August 18, in Alice Springs, police said a man allegedly assaulted two females with a blunt weapon at a service station on Railway Terrace.

Police said a male offender – allegedly armed with a “blunt weapon” – struck two females, aged 24 and 25.

The 24-year-old was sent to Alice Springs Hospital for treatment, after visiting the police station for help.

Police said the 25-year-old female was assisting them with inquiries, as the male offender remains outstanding.

Police said a large group was gathered in the area, but “the fighting was limited to a few persons”.
