Police raid on rural property allegedly uncovers significant cannabis operation

A man who allegedly told police he had "a little bit of weed" when they arrested him faces multiple drug charges after officers allegedly found a large stash of drugs at his rural property.

A man will face serious drug charges after police allegedly uncovered hundreds of cannabis plants during a raid on a rural South Burnett property.

Detectives from Murgon Criminal Investigation Branch searched an address in Durong on November 21.

A Queensland Police Service spokesman said officers allegedly seized 127 cannabis plants, several drug utensils, and various items used in the production of illicit drugs.

A 53-year-old Durong man has been charged with two counts each of possessing dangerous drugs and possess utensils, and one count each of producing dangerous drugs, possessing anything for use in the commission of crime defined in Part 2, possessing instructions for producing dangerous drugs.

A video recorded at the time of his arrest shows officers approaching the man sitting in a white vehicle, during which he admitted to having “a little bit of weed” in his possession.

He is due to appear at the Kingaroy Magistrates Court on January 14, 2026.
