Police have charged three teens, one aged just 15, after they allegedly led officers on a pursuit through the Tweed in a Volkswagen stolen from Queensland.

Tweed/Byron Police District officers spotted the car travelling on Cudgen Rd in Kingscliff about 8.55pm on Saturday and the driver failed to stop, it’s alleged.

Police road spikes were successfully used as the vehicle was heading along Tweed Coast Rd, Hastings Point and the alleged chase ended for a time.

The police district, assisted by Traffic and Highway Patrol Command, then took off after the car after it was spotted heading towards Reserve Creek Rd in Reserve Creek.

Eventually, the car came to a stop at barriers preventing access to the flood-stricken road.

It’s alleged a boy, 15, and another youth, 16, fled the car and ran into bushland with a Pottsville woman, 19, but all three were arrested.

The trio were taken to Tweed Heads Police Station.

The woman has been charged with one count each of receiving property stolen outside of NSW and being carried in the car taken without consent of the owner.

She has been granted strict bail to face Tweed Heads Local Court on May 15.

The 16-year-old, alleged to be the driver of the stolen car, has been charged with one count each of breaching bail, driving without ever having held a licence (second offence) and driving a car taken without consent of the owner.

The teen has also been charged with being involved in a police pursuit in which he did not stop and drove dangerously and receiving property stolen outside of NSW.

Meanwhile, the 15-year-old boy has been charged with one count each of breaching bail, receiving property stolen outside of NSW and being carried in the car taken without consent of the owner.

The child also faces unrelated charges of intimidation and assault, according to police.

Bail was not granted to the juveniles and they were due to face Parramatta Children’s Court.
