Scorned ex, Jackie Leanne Gilmore, 35, sentenced for vicious road rage attack on ex-boyfriend’s new lover

A Northern Rivers woman who slammed into her ex-boyfriend’s new flame’s car, before the victim was then pushed out of the way of the oncoming vehicle, has narrowly avoided being sent to prison.

Jackie Leanne Gilmore, 35 appeared before Magistrate Michael Dakin on Thursday in Lismore Local Court.

She pleaded guilty to speeding, menacing another with intent while driving, predatory driving, and not giving particulars to another driver.

The court heard at 11am on February 27, Gilmore’s former boyfriend, Blake Kelly, 32, called his current partner Bethany Fabre, 22 to pick him up from Heritage Park in Lismore.

Fabre drove along Molesworth St in a northerly direction and at 133 Molesworth St she saw a red sedan pass her on the opposite side of the road honking her horn.

Kelly said to her: “That’s Jackie”.

Gilmore made a U-turn and accelerated in a northerly direction along Molesworth St at speed, the court heard.

Gilmore approached the rear of Fabre’s car and made contact, the court heard.

Kelly and Fabre stopped the vehicle, exited, and Gilmore reversed then accelerated into the rear of Fabre’s car again, causing extensive damage, facts state.

Fabre’s car then rolled forward into a parked car on Molesworth St.

Gilmore then accelerated harshly, manoeuvring around Fabre’s car and proceeding towards her.

Kelly managed to push the new lover out of the path of the oncoming vehicle.

Gilmore failed to stop and provide her new details to Fabre or Kelly, and left the scene.

Documents tendered to the court stated Gilmore went and reported Kelly breaching bail to Lismore police, claiming he had hit her and that she wished to not make a report.

Police spoke with Fabre, and Gilmore was arrested and charged.

The court heard Gilmore refused to be interviewed by police.

Fabre told police the incident had left her “fearful for her safety”.

Gilmore was convicted under the circle sentencing program where she received a section 10 – no penalty –for exceeding speed greater than 30kph and not giving particulars to another driver.

However, for menacing Fabre with intent she was sentenced to a two-year community correction order and disqualified from holding a driver’s licence for 12 months.

Gilmore was further sentenced to a 12-month intensive correction order to run concurrently with all orders.

Gilmore must also complete 200 hours of community service work.
