A 42-year-old Gold Coast man has been sentenced for intimidating two teenage girls in Murwillumbah in what has been described as “every parent’s nightmare”.

Piotr Dadok was sentenced in Tweed Heads Local Court on Friday for intimidation.

He pleaded guilty to the charge.

Previous charges of inciting another person for a sexual act and behaving in an offensive manner were withdrawn.

According to agreed facts the two girls aged 13 and 14 received a call from another teen friend on March 7, 2021, saying a man had approached her and said he wanted to lick her everywhere and made other inappropriate comments which made her scared.

The two girls later went to Brisbane St at Murwillumbah about 11.30am and saw a man following them who they believed was the one to which their friend was referring.

They walked to Wollumbin St where they sat on a bench.

Dadok approached them and said “I noticed your sexy legs from a mile away. You girls are smoking hot, you girls are gorgeous”.

When Dadok asked how old they were they said they were under age and not legal and they didn’t want to talk to him.

He said “Am I not under age enough to talk to you?” which was recorded by the 14-year-old on her phone.

The girls left the area in fear of the man.

They later saw Dadok across the road from them near the Imperial Hotel on Murwillumbah St.

One of the girl’s father drove past at the same time and they jumped into the car.

The father described them as shaking as they pointed Dadok out.

The girl’s father took them both home before returning to town.

He found Dadok, took a photo of him and reported him to police.

When police spoke to Dadok he told them he had said “have a nice day” after the girls told him they were underage.

Dadok told police “they might have been intimated or something but I never done anything, I went away, honestly”.

He declined to be interviewed and said he would just “plead not guilty” and have the girls stand up in court.

Dadok’s defence lawyer told the court his client had previously worked as a plant operator however was made redundant when his boss died and new management came in.

He said this made Dadok turn to drugs and alcohol after he struggled to find employment.

On the day of the offence he had been to the pub before approaching the girls.

He asked the court to consider the interaction only lasted 39 seconds and Dadok was remorseful.

However, he conceded his client was on probation in Queensland at the time of the offence.

Magistrate Geoff Dunlevy said the girls involved were old enough to be out in the community but young enough to be frightened.

“This scenario was every parent’s nightmare,” Mr Dunlevy said.

Mr Dunlevy sentenced Dadok to 12 months in jail with nine months non-parole, backdated to March 4.

Dadok is now eligible for parole release.
