Northern NSW Traffic: Multiple crashes and rescues in wet weather

Emergency services have been called to multiple Northern Rivers crashes in the past 24 hours in the wet conditions.

Emergency services in the Northern Rivers have been kept busy as wet weather causes havoc on roads across the region.

Emergency services were called to a car and truck crash on Bangalow Rd at Lismore, about 6.15am on Friday.

Diversions have been put in place via Richmond Hill Rd to rejoin Bruxner Highway.

Paramedics were not called to the crash.

Overnight police, firefighters and ambulance attended a crash on the M1 at Barney’s Hill in Banora Point where a car flipped.

An ambulance spokesman said paramedics attended the scene of the truck and car crash just before 7.30pm.

Two people were treated for minor injuries and one was taken to Tweed Heads Hospital.

Earlier on Thursday the Pacific Highway went into chaos as emergency services attended two crashes between Coffs Harbour and Grafton.

Two people were taken to hospital at a three-car crash north of the Woolgoolga.

A man involved in a two-car crash further north at Glenugie was also taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Near Coffs Harbour, paramedics have worked with the SES to safely retrieve four men cut off by flood waters at Upper Orara.

An ambulance spokesman said fortunately no one was injured at the incident at North Island Loop road when they attended on standby about 12.30pm.

Wet weather is expected to stick around over the weekend with a strike team deployed to Lismore on Thursday to assist with flood response.
