Lismore Farmers Markets flourish despite Covid

Good crowds have returned to the event to pick up a bargain, a plant, fresh produce or just to catch up with friends. See if we snapped you in our gallery inside.

Lismore Farmers Markets has a proud tradition of bringing local communities together.

Market director Louise Grenfell said the event, held at the showgrounds, have “really taken off” even through the pandemic.

“We have been open all through Covid,” she said.

“Adhering to regulations and being safe, people have still come from around the region to the market.”

Eric Smith of Atelier Smith mends and makes clothes using treadle and hand-cranked vintage sewing machines.

“I can do small repairs here,” Mr Smith said.

“Often I’ll need to take them home and return next market.”

He is an award-winning embroiderer and has spent many years researching practices and methods of historical sewing.

It wouldn’t be a happening market without a good coffee.

Ron the Coffee Man comes to Lismore offering up all your favourites plus treats too.

The Lismore Farmers Market is on at the Lismore Showground from 8am to 11.30am every Saturday.

Brian Smith travels all the way from Yamba offering fresh seafood.

The day’s catch was caught by Kevin Handcock and his daughter Posie who took home a big bag of very large, fresh prawns. BBQ anyone?
