Officers from Richmond Police District have arrested and charged two North Coast men after stopping an SUV near Broadwater.

Two North Coast men pulled over during a vehicle stop on the Pacific Motorway near Broadwater on Monday have been arrested and charged after police allegedly found a firearm in their SUV.

Kane Wilson, 31, of Evans Head, appeared before Magistrate Jeff Lindon yesterday for mention at Ballina Local Court.

He is charged with possess unregistered firearm-not pistol/prohibited firearm and possess unauthorised firearm.

Wilson was granted strict conditional bail and must reside at Evans Head and not be in contact with the other man, a 43-year-old.

No pleas were entered and Wilson is scheduled for further mention in Ballina Local Court on May 11.

Pacific Motorway southbound near Broadwater, NSW.

Around 8.50pm on Monday, police from Richmond Police District stopped a white SUV on the Pacific Motorway near Broadwater.

Officers searched the vehicle and allegedly found a firearm and number plates suspected of being stolen.

Wilson was arrested as was the 43-year-old who is charged with possess unregistered firearm, possess unauthorised firearm, and goods in personal custody suspected being stolen.

The older man was granted conditional bail to appear before Ballina Local Court on June 15.
