A man has been declared dead after being pulled from the water at The Gravel Loader Dig Site in Shell Cove, north of Kiama.

Emergency services were called Bass Point Tourist Rd following reports of the body of a man had been found in the water.

It is understood that the man was declared dead at the scene, with the cause of death being misadventure.

Officers have launched an investigation into the incident, as NSW Police sources said the incident is not believed to be suspicious.

The Gravel Loader Dig Site is known as a snorkelling and diving hotspot.

Investigations are continuing, and the man is yet to be formally identified.

It is the second drowning on NSW’s south coast in a matter of days, after a man drowned at South Bombo Beach.

He was reportedly swimming with his teenage son when they became caught in a rip current.

It was also one of two water-related incidents at Shell Cove on Saturday, after a woman was pulled from the water at Killalea Beach conscious just after 2.30pm.

Paramedics were called to the beach and transported her to hospital in a stable condition.
