A northern NSW mother is feeling “physically ill” after a deeply concerning and “putrid” find in the pockets of a children’s clothing item right off the rack in a Kmart store.
Angela Holden said she purchased a Los Angeles Lakers hoodie for her seven-year-old from the Lismore Kmart at Lismore Square Shopping Centre on Wednesday when she made the horrifying discovery.
Ms Holden said the pockets of the jumper – a kids size 6 – contained several drug baggies, some with powder still inside.
“Check your kids clothes before buying them - Kmart, Big W… nothing is safe from these grubs anymore,” she wrote in a scathing Facebook post.
“Just found all of this in the pocket of a Lakers jumper we bought from Lismore Kmart for my 7-year-old earlier in the week.
“Disgusted is an understatement. I feel physically ill.
“Wanted to put the word out cause god forbid a child finds this instead of an adult. There is still powder in the bags.”
Ms Holden said she would be reporting the foul find to Lismore Square Shopping Centre centre management, and that the matter had been reported to local police.
The post, on a Lismore community page, attracted a slew of comments, with some labelling those responsible as “scum”.
One user wrote: “Lismore’s version of the needle in the strawberries. Very concerning indeed.”
Another said the incident was “not acceptable under any circumstances. Grubs.”
One user wrote: “Imagine if there was a syringe among it all.”
“Beyond putrid,” another added.
Kmart Australia has been contacted for comment.
