An ex-corrections officer accused of stabbing a man known to her in the neck has been released from custody – but not without an ankle bracelet and strict bail conditions.

Sarah Elizabeth Smith, 42, allegedly stabbed the man at Strouds Rd, Bonville on February 23.

The alleged 42-year-old victim was taken to Coffs Harbour Health Campus in a serious but stable condition.

According to court documents, the alleged victim claimed he “tripped and fell on to the blade”.

However, in police facts tendered to the court, Smith, a former corrections officer from Western Australia, allegedly told police during her arrest “my intention was to kill him”.

It comes as Smith appeared before Coffs Harbour Local Court on Tuesday where one charge of reckless wounding was dropped.

Two domestic violence related charges of causing wounding/grievous bodily harm with intent to murder and wounding a person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm remain.

She was granted bail and released from Clarence Correctional Centre on June 11 with Corrective Services NSW conditions of electronic monitoring.

Smith’s bail conditions forbid her to go within 50km of Coffs Harbour except for court proceedings.

Other conditions include a curfew from 8pm to 6am and abstaining from alcohol and drugs.

Pleas are yet to be entered to her remaining charges.

Smith is due back in court on September 23.
