Hundreds of high-profile government leadership roles will now be based in the bush in a bid to give regional citizens a bigger say in decisions.
Up to 900 senior public service jobs commanding six figure salaries will be based across the regions by 2025 to shift the power from the Sydney CBD and Parramatta.
The positions up for grabs include client services manager, based in Bathurst, with a salary of up to $151,000 and project manager at TAFE NSW, with a salary of $159,000. Some roles will be based in regional offices while others can be done remotely.
More than $103 million will also go towards new and existing government offices over the next three years.
Deputy Premier John Barilaro said regional NSW was home to one-third of the state’s population and deserving of fair representation at the highest levels of government
“The Public Service in NSW should reflect NSW, and that means having leaders spread across the state, not just in Parramatta and the Sydney CBD,” he said.
