Friendlyjordies producer pleads not guilty to stalking John Barilaro

Kristo Langker’s lawyer said he did not stalk the NSW Deputy Premier and that he is confident in the evidence.

Friendlyjordies producer arrested

A producer for online comedy group Friendlyjordies will fight allegations he stalked NSW Deputy Premier John Barilaro on two occasions.

Kristo Langker appeared in Newtown Local Court on Thursday and formally pleaded not guilty to two counts of stalking after being arrested at his Dulwich Hill family home earlier this month.

Police allege the 21-year-old stalked Mr Barilaro at a Macquarie University talk in April and after rugby league great Bob Fulton’s funeral in Sydney’s CBD on June 4.

Vision of both incidents was later posted online.

His court appearance comes after Mr Barilaro filed a defamation lawsuit against Jordan Shanks, the comedian and political commentator behind Friendlyjordies, over two sketch videos posted online.

Mr Langker’s matter was adjourned and he was listed for a mention in Downing Centre Local Court next Wednesday.

As part of his bail conditions, he must not contact Mr Barilaro unless through a lawyer and he is forbidden from going within 100 metres of where the politician lives or works.

Outside court, Mr Langker’s solicitor Mark Davis said it was “outrageous” his client was arrested.

“We intend to fight (his charges) as high and as hard and as vigorously as possible,” Mr Davis said.

“He’s an innocent man.

“We’ve yet to see any evidence at all beyond a general police statement as to the offence.

“We’re extremely confident in our evidence that we’ve now gathered and we’re looking forward with enthusiasm to our day in court, which is the way it should be.”

When asked why he doesn’t like Mr Barilaro, Mr Langker said: “It’s not about liking him, it’s about doing journalism on him”.
