A Northern NSW solicitor has been reprimanded and fined by the state’s top legal watchdog after being found to have engaged in unsatisfactory professional conduct.
Jessica Rose Riddell, Principal of JH Mobile Lawyers, based in the Lismore suburb of Goonellabah, “sent a threatening letter to a minor to commence court proceedings when it was not appropriate to do so. – according to the NSW Office of the Legal Services Commissioner’s Register of Disciplinary Action.
The watchdog deemed Riddell had “engaged in unsatisfactory professional conduct”.
The Council of the Law Society of New South Wales slapped Riddell with a formal reprimand and fined her $2,000.
It further ordered Riddell to provide an apology to the complainant.
Riddell must also complete legal ethics training with the Professional Support Unit of the Law Society of NSW.
JH Mobile Lawyers state on their website Riddell offers “a mobile, affordable friendly service at your convenience”.
