Illawarra teen charged with 13 car theft and break-in offences

An 18-year-old Illawarra teen has been arrested and charged with a slew of offences after an alleged crime spree involving a stolen Subaru and aggravated break-ins.

A teenager has been arrested and charged with 13 offences including car theft and aggravated break and enter across the Illawarra region.

Police were called to a home on Wentworth St in Shellharbour following reports of a break and enter at about 2:30am on June 18.

The 18-year-old allegedly broke into a home and stole the car keys to a Subaru Forester before allegedly driving off in the vehicle.

Police will allege the teen drove the Subaru to Kiama Downs where he then attempted to break into other vehicles.

The teenager was allegedly involved in another aggravated break and enter, and the theft of two vehicles, from Mount Kembla on May 24.

Officers arrested the teenager at a home in Byaee Street, Dapto following inquiries.

He was taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station and charged with 13 offences including, aggravated break and enter, face blackened/disguised with intent to commit indictable offence, larceny, and participate criminal group contribute criminal activity.

He was refused bail and is set to appear before the Wollongong Local Court today.
