Sydney construction workers almost accidentally pulled off the heist of the decade after a piece of concrete penetrated the double brick wall of Bendigo Bank.
Just before 1pm, the 20-tonne slab of concrete burst through the Bexley banks perimeter leaving a massive hole in its wake as demolition workers were clearing out the neighbouring property.
Six people were safely evacuated from the bank and offices above on Forest Road.
The bank’s contents were under the watchful eye of NSW police as the demolition works cleaned up the mess.
The bank remains closed with its doors only opening for remedial builders who were seen gathering inside preparing to further patch up the suspicious-looking hole.
