Labor leader Peter Malinauskas has described the arrival of his third child with wife Annabel as “total unequivocal joy”.
Baby Eliza Kate entered the world yesterday at Burnside Hospital, weighing 3.3kg.
Annabel Malinauskas , who was working as a lawyer until Friday, said she was “very relieved that Eliza has arrived safely and that she is healthy’’.
Eliza is the younger sister of Sophie, 5, and Jack, 2. But due to coronavirus restrictions they have been unable to meet their new sister.
“While we were initially sad to hear that we wouldn’t be able to have Sophie and Jack come into the hospital to meet the new baby, this does give us the opportunity to just focus on caring for and getting to know little Eliza in these first few days, ,’’ she said .
Mr Malinauskas said he would be taking the next few days off before parliament resumed next week.
“I am just so proud of Bel and you can’t help but feel filled with love. It sounds silly but it’s just so true.’’.
