Woman who called Scott Morrison ‘worst PM we’ve ever had’ explains what happened after

The woman who caught the PM out with a heckle on her smartphone has become a hero to Morrison critics. She has since told what happened next.

Scott Morrison is called 'the worst PM ever' at pub

The woman who embarrassed the Prime Minister at a NSW pub with a heckle she recorded on her smartphone says she has been watching the video “on loop” and that it was “the best I could do on short notice”.

Scott Morrison thought he was meeting a fan when the young woman sidled up next to him at the Edgeworth Tavern in Lake Macquarie on Wednesday night and pulled her phone out to record a video.

The Prime Minister’s smile faded quickly after she told him: “Congratulations on being the worst Prime Minister we’ve ever had.”

The woman shared the video on social media alongside the caption: “Just got to give Slomo my sincerest congratulations.”

The Labor supporter added the hashtags #ScottyTheGaslighter and #AlboForPM.

Hours later, with the video having been liked and shared thousands of times, the woman wrote about what happened when the recording stopped.

“He said thanks, then processed what I said and lost his smirk and turned his back on me,” she shared on Twitter.

She told those congratulating her for the stunt that she “never thought I’d get the chance to meet him” and “dreams do come true”.

The support came in thick and fast.

“I’m kicking myself for not having a plan in place for this situation,” she wrote. “It’s the best I could do on short notice.”

There were plenty of people who wanted to say congratulations to the young woman for what she did.

“This is the best thing I’ve seen all year,” one woman wrote.

“Outstanding work. Just perfection,” another wrote.

News.com.au has reached out to the woman in the video for comment.

It was not the only awkward moment captured on camera on Wednesday night.

After pouring beers for patrons, Mr Morrison found himself on the receiving end of criticism from a pubgoer who pushed him on a range of issues.

“Listen to me for a change,” the man told the PM. “You can have a million dollar house, $250,000 in the bank and franking credits but a disability pensioner can’t have an income.

“You’ve also been immigration minister. I’ve got a partner I’ve been with six-and-a-half years and I’ve got a right as an Australian to choose who my partner should be.

“We’ve been to the tribunal twice and won on both occasions. That was 14 months ago. Why can’t I have a partner?

“You know another promise you made. You were going to have an integrity commission.

“You better f*****g do something. I’m sick of your bull****.”

Mr Morrison appeared to be trying to calm the man down and politely listening to what he had to say.

The man was later seen being escorted from the venue.

Some locals who spoke to the Newcastle Herald said Mr Morrison had been treated unfairly.

Carpenter John Livingstone, 41, saw the fracas and said people should “have a bit of respect” for the PM.

The Prime Minister responded to the hecklers, telling reporters on Thursday morning that the majority of people were very supportive of him being there.

“More broadly it was a very welcome reception,” he said.
