Lindisfarne have delivered a statement to remind the competition it is coming after a massive win against a fellow premiership contender.
The Two Blues dominated from start to finish in its match against Dodges Ferry to claim a 15.18 (108) to 8.8 (56) victory at Anzac Park.
It now puts the Two Blues into fourth spot, equal third with Sorell after a slow start to the season.
Lindisfarne coach Trey Westbury said position changes is what has caused the rise back to the best footy.
“We weren’t concerned at the start of the year with how things were going at all,” Westbury said.
“Of course we didn’t start the season the way we liked but it isn’t about how you start the season, its more about how you finish it.
“We have made some movements around the ground with positional changes which have definitely helped us find this type of form.
“Dodges Ferry are a strong side and it was a great game against them, I was really proud of our boys and how we lifted.”
Two Blues were 1-2 after the first three rounds but have gone on to win four of the last five games with the only loss coming to undefeated Cygnet.
It turns to a tough run for Lindisfarne following the Kings Birthday league bye this coming week.
The Two Blues will play Claremont straight after the bye who Westbury said he won’t be taking lightly at all.
“Claremont have really improved this year and you know being a young side they will continue to get better,” Westbury said.
“But then we play against Sorell then Huonville or other way round but then Cygnet the week after.
“So we do have a really tough run after the bye but it’s what has made this competition great.
“The top five is pretty tight and I think the year that it is, you could finish third, fourth or fifth and on your day still win the flag.
“But then even the three teams outside the five you can’t take lightly.
“New Norfolk have played some really good footy this year, Hobart have had some great moments and they come to play and the same with Claremont.
“As I said, they are a young side and have shown moments throughout the year just how much they have improved so we look forward to that challenge in a couple of weeks.”
The Community League will have the weekend off for the Kings Birthday long weekend which comes at a great time according to Westbury.
“We have a few sore bodies as I am sure a lot of the clubs have so the bye has come at the right time,” Westbury said.
“I think it is a really good time to have the bye after eight rounds, it gives the clubs a chance just to refresh.
“In previous years when we had an odd number of teams, you would get the extra bye every other week and it can create that stop-start feeling.
“So at least now with the eight teams, the byes just fit perfectly when they are needed I reckon.”
