Light up the Anzac Spirit on display in Darwin and Katherine

A silent cinema in Darwin and Katherine will give Territorians the chance to revisit history and commemorate the Anzac spirit. Find out what else is planned for the commemorations.

Territorians will have the chance to revisit history through a series of photographic projections and audio landscapes ahead ofAnzac Day.

Light Up The ANZAC Spirit will showcase the NT’s rich history in a 15-minute silent cinema in Darwin and Katherine.

Veterans Affairs Minister Paul Kirby said the displays will commemorate the stories of 60,000 Australians, including 26,000 who “paid the ultimate sacrifice”.

“Anzac Day is now a day where we remember all Australians, and New Zealanders, who have served and continue to serve in military operations, and initiatives like Light Up the Anzac Spirit ensure their legacy lives on,” he said.

The display will first be shown in Katherine between 7pm to 9.30pm on Friday, April 21.

It will be projected onto the side of a 15m-wide semi-trailer next to Godinymayin Yijard Rivers Arts & Culture Centre.

From there, the pop-up cinema will travel to Darwin where it will be shown at the Darwin Waterfront from 7pm to 9.30pm on Saturday, April 22.

It will also appear at the Cenotaph from 7pm to 9.30pm on Monday, April 24, and before commemorations begin on the morning of Anzac Day.
