There is just three rounds to go in the Cricket Tasmania Premier League women’s competition before the big dance.
There has been some incredible displays with the bat and ball this season across both the T20 and One Day competitions.
North Hobart and Greater Northern Raiders look set to battle it out in the One Day grand final but with three rounds to go they will need all their stars firing.
Check out the leading wicket takers and run makers so far this season.
1. North Hobart – 26 points – Q: 1.796 – NRR: 1.469
Run home – Clarence at Kangaroo Bay Oval, Clarence at TCA Ground, GN Raiders at TCA Ground.
Leading run scorer – Elyse Villani – 265 runs at 265 – HS: 154* – 1 x 100, 2 x 50s.
The Tasmanian elite batter returned for North Hobart after time away representing the state and the Hobart Hurricanes women’s. Upon her return, Villani has taken to the bowling line ups, belting 50 from 56 balls and 61 not out from 61 balls in the two games against New Town, followed up by 154 not out off 141 balls against Clarence which helped her side chase down the massive total of 294.
Leading wicket taker – Clare Scott – 10 wickets at 21.7 – BB: 3-26
A very consistent tournament for Scott who has taken wickets in almost every game. The one game where she remained wicketless was when Clarence belted 2-294 against North Hobart. Just one week later, Scott picked up 3-40 off 10 overs, making it her second three wicket haul of the one day format.
2. GN Raiders – 20 points – Q: 1.722 – NRR: 1.122
Run home – New Town at Devonport Oval, New Town at New Town Oval, North Hobart at TCA Ground.
Leading run scorer – Ava Curtis – 264 runs at 66 – HS: 115 – 1 x 100, 1 x 50
A strong display with the bat this season, Curtis smashed a brilliant 115 not out from 85 balls against North Hobart in what looks like a potential grand final preview. A few starts in between the hundred and her 65 from 82 balls against Clarence shows she is stepping into form as the pointy end approaches.
Leading wicket taker – Ruth Johnston – 11 wickets at 10.09 – 5-13
The right arm spinner has been key to the Raiders success this season as they chase a grand final birth. Johnston picked up season best figures of 5-13 from 8.3 overs against New Town, guiding her side to a comfortable win with both bat and ball, finishing on 67 not out from 48 balls with the bat in the same game.
3. Clarence – 9 points – Q: 1.073 – NRR: -0.16
Run home – North Hobart at Kangaroo Bay Oval, North Hobart at TCA Ground, New Town at New Town Oval.
Leading run scorer – Michaela Kirk – 256 runs at 51.2 – HS: 101 – 1 x 100
A shining light for a tough one day competition for Clarence, Kirk is the third leading run scorer of the format, just nine runs behind North Hobart’s Elyse Villani. The right handed opening bat made a brilliant 101 not out from 79 balls against New Town in a reduced overs match thanks to the weather.
Leading wicket taker – Talia Heyward – 8 wickets at 23 – BB: 2-22
Arguably one of the most consistent bowlers of the season, Heyward has taken a wicket in every one day match she has played this season. On three occasions she has taken two wickets each with returns of 2-22 from seven overs, 2-55 from 10 overs and 2-49 from nine overs.
4. New Town – 4 points – Q: 0.324 – NRR: -2.402
Run home – GC Raiders at Devonport Oval, GN Raiders at New Town Oval, Clarence at New Town Oval.
Leading run scorer – Bethany Lane – 146 runs at 29.2 – HS: 45
Leading wicket taker – Bethany Lane – 5 wickets at 28.6 – BB: 4-37
Lane was big during the T20 format of the competition and has continued to make starts in the One Day format for New Town. Despite winning the T20 final this season, New Town has struggled with Lane being a highlight for them in this format. Her 45 came from 78 balls against ladder leaders North Hobart. Lane is also the leading wicket taker for the One Day format for New Town, with her best figures this year coming against Clarence with 4-37 from eight overs.
