A cold front approaching southern Queensland on Friday afternoon is expected to bring with it warm temperatures and heavy rain.
While Saturday will begin with dry temperatures, Bureau of Meteorology’s Jonathan How said steady falls will hit the Western Downs first, making its way across the Darling Downs and Lockyer Valley in the afternoon.
“The region can expect between 10-30mm of rain throughout the day, which is likely to be uniformly spread out,” he said.
Mild daytime temperatures are expected across the region on Saturday, with Toowoomba reaching 17C, Warwick 16C and Stanthorpe 16C.
Moving into Sunday, Mr How said the unseasonal rainfall is expected to cease by mid-morning, with Toowoomba continuing to see mild daytime temperatures of around 16C.
As the rain settles, westerly winds will bring a cool breeze for the remainder of the weekend with winter condition to return on Monday.
“Toowoomba and the Darling Downs can expect cooler conditions on Monday and Tuesday, with early morning frosts likely,” Mr How said.
Conditions will again change into Wednesday with light showers expected across parts of the region, bringing warmer than average daytime temperatures.
Westerly winds are also expected to return on Thursday with Toowoomba’s daytime temperatures to reach a cool 13C.
