UPDATE
LOCAL surfing legend Mick Fanning is making a habit of running into AFL superstars while they live it up on the Gold Coast.
Staying on the Gold Coast as part of the AFL hub, players were enjoying the waves in Tugun when Fanning dropped in.
The players included Fremantle's captain Nat Fyfe, West Coast premiership player Jack Darling and the Eagle's young ruckman Callum Jamieson, who came away with more than a cool story.
Two-time Brownlow Medallist Fyfe used his new board that he was gifted from Fanning and the world champion's board shaper Darren Handley.

Three-time world champion surfer Mick Fanning has given AFL players Travis Boak and Nathan Fyfe a gift, setting the stars up with boards from his shaper Darren Handley.
A passionate AFL follower, Handley was more than happy to impart his knowledge and design the boards for the players, but Port Adelaide’s former captain Boak admitted the Burleigh board shaper was probably more excited to meet two-time Brownlow Medal winner Fyfe than himself.

“I’ve never met DH (Handley) before, I just started speaking to him after Mick said he’d organise a board for me,” Boak said.
“It worked out well that we went into the store and got the boards made that way.
“He definitely knows his stuff, obviously he’s designed some pretty incredible boards for some amazing surfers.
“He’s got some names in his paddock with Mick, Steph Gilmore and a few others.
“He’s an amazing guy and to see him at work was really cool, it was great to see how it’s done.
“I’ve been surfing since I was a little kid and I didn’t know too much about how boards worked.”
Fiery exchange after surfer drops in on Mick Fanning
Boak, 31, said him and Fremantle captain Fyfe, 28, know Fanning, 39, through mutual sponsor Red Bull and Fanning has provided him support throughout his career.
“Mick’s a ripper dude, he’s great to hang out with,” he said.
“He’s helped me with some professional stuff in my footy, going through goal setting and finding motivation.
“He’s always been a good friend.”
Boak and Fyfe are both on the Gold Coast at the moment as part of the AFL’s Queensland hub.
Fremantle face St Kilda at Metricon Stadium at 12.35pm on Saturday before Port Adelaide play GWS Giants at the Carrara venue on Sunday (1.05pm).
