Uncle Stephen “Pum” Parnell told the Bulletin his nephew was a keen fisherman and a hard worker who had been employed as an excavator.

He said Mr Field was the father to a young baby girl.

“Loved his fishing, mucking around but loved his family more,” Mr Parnell said.

“He had his ups and downs but he was really getting his life together. It’s a very sad loss to his mum, father, brothers and sister. As well to all of our families. He will be sadly missed.”

Amanda Phillis posted condolences to the Vincentia High class of 2000-2005 Facebook group.

“Seems I only post on here with bad news,” she wrote.

“Another of our school mates has grown his wings. Jamie Field was killed in a car accident yesterday afternoon. Deepest condolences to all his mates and family. RIP mate.”
