Triple M insiders have revealed radio host Ali Plath will not return to the station’s breakfast radio show in 2025.
Insiders have revealed the show with Ms Plath and Peter ‘Spida’ Everitt will be replaced on the Gold Coast airwaves by a show consisting of Brisbane Triple M radio hosts Leisel Jones and Liam Flanagan joining AFL great Spida next year.
Sean ‘Flan’ Flanagan took a step back from the show earlier this year to go freelance despite his name still appearing in the line-up and as part of the show.
Ms Plath and Sean Flangan’s ongoing roles with the station remain unclear.
Ms Jones, Liam Flanagan and Ben ‘Dobbo’ Dobbin’s metro drive radio show – The Rush Hour – was dumped this year to be replaced with the nationally syndicated Marty Sheargold Show from January 2025 – part of a broader restructuring by parent company Southern Cross Austereo.
According to a radio insider local talent were not told of the suspected changes after news reports of the rumours broke on Friday.
On-air talent were allegedly told of the news Monday.
Despite the changes, a source said they were “excited” to see two former elite athletes – Olympic gold medallist Ms Jones and former Aussie rules star Mr Everitt go “head to head” on the new show.
“Leisel was the best swimmer we had in the country for a long time – her and Spida going head to head with their female and male perspectives should make for really great entertainment,” they said.
After four years on air Ms Dye finished up with the show – sparking outcry from listeners – alongside co-host Mr Hannant who had been hosting the show for seven years.
Danny Lakey, who was the show’s most recent addition, was the only one of the trio to remain on air with a new regional show and new co-host Bronte Langbroek.
Southern Cross Austereo (SCA) and SCA Gold Coast general manager Shane Jurgens were contacted for comment about the Triple M changes.
SCA said no comment would be provided at this stage.
