Brisbane radio personalities Leisel Jones and Liam Flanagan are set to return to the airwaves with a new Gold Coast breakfast show on Triple M Gold 92.5 following their axing from The Rush Hour. The popular duo, who were a fixture of Brisbane’s drivetime programming as part of The Rush Hour with Leisel, Liam, and Dobbo, are reportedly reuniting for a morning program, according to industry insiders.
The move comes after Triple M’s parent company, SCA, announced on November 1 that The Rush Hour would be replaced by the nationally syndicated Marty Sheargold Show from January 2025.
Currently, the Gold Coast breakfast timeslot is filled by the Flan, Ali and Spida show, hosted by Sean ‘Flan’ Flanagan, Ali Plath, and Spida Everitt, who won Best On-Air Talent in the Provincial category at the 2024 ACRA Awards.
It remains unclear whether Jones and Flanagan will be taking over the show or if other changes are in the works.
The decision to axe The Rush Hour has come as part of a broader restructuring by SCA, despite the show’s strong performance with a 10.1 per cent market share and a third-place finish in the October radio survey.
The shift is part of a wider strategy to introduce nationally syndicated content to a broader audience.
Following the announcement, Jones took to Instagram to thank her fans for their support, writing, “Well, it was fun while it lasted. I hope we were able to bring a smile or laugh to your arvo.”
While the details of their new breakfast show remain under wraps, Jones and Flanagan’s loyal fans have already shared their excitement about their return to the airwaves.
Triple M has been approached for comment, but no formal statement has been made about the future line-up at Gold 92.5.
