TRAFFIC is at a standstill around Southport as holiday traffic, roadworks and GC600 construction combine as a perfect storm at peak hour.
Long delays are being experience on the Gold Coast Hwy, the Sundale Bridge, Bermuda St and Smith St Mwy.
No crashes have been reported in the area, but lane closures due to works are creating “bottle necks”.
One motorist reported a half an hour drive from Southport to Chevron Island and another said to avoid the Gold Coast Hwy all together.
Motorists are asked to delay trips if possible, but if you have to get out in the gridlock, stay patient on the road.
