A FAMED Surfers Paradise nightclub which shut after an ugly COVID-19 lockout row with its landlord reopens this Saturday around the corner.
The new Sin City is on Surfers Paradise Boulevard. It now occupies the ex MPs nightclub, around the corner from Sin’s original site of 13 years on party strip Orchid Ave.
The relocation comes after Melbourne-based landlord Bada Bing Holdings locked Sin City operator Rockbah Bar out at the start of the pandemic shutdown despite the latter having paid $10,000 a week in rent for three months.
Bada Bing has gone to court alleging $268,000 unpaid rent but Rockbah disputes that and is counter-suing for $1.3 million for wrongful eviction and other costs.
Sin City, one of Surfers Paradise’s longest-running nightclubs, has hosted a string of A-listers including sprint legend Usain Bolt, Justin Bieber, Usher and Amber Heard.
CELEBRITIES AND ‘CRAZINESS’: SINCITY’S WILDEST NIGHTS
Artesian Hospitality group, which has Sin in its stable, fitted out the new spot with five VIP booths for bottle service, a new curved bar, decorative windows and a half-moon shaped centrepiece that dangles from the ceiling for aerial performances.
The decor pays homage to London, New York and Las Vegas with bar staff dressed as flight attendants offering an “in-flight” beverage menu with chilli margaritas and bubble gum infused vodka.
Artesian Hospitality partner Matt Keegan said all their venues brought an unforgettable experience: “SinCity has a reputation not just nationally, but internationally as the ‘must visit’ nightclub on the Gold Coast.
“When we decided to move, we knew we had to step up and ensure we delivered a venue that was next level.”
Artesian revamped and reopened popular Bedroom bar in September - and reopened the country’s first nightclub during the pandemic when restarting Havana R & B nightclub.
That was nine weeks after unprecedented restrictions hit the hospitality sector.
