SURFERS Paradise’s Hilton is set to undergo a revamp.
The two-tower, high-end hotel is the subject of a new development application that will see part of its podium rooftop transformed into new conference facilities.
While light on detail, the new plans show a conference room, function room, new terrace and storage areas will be created on the rooftop area.

The existing plant room will also be modified.
The tower’s owner, Laudet, says it wants to “refresh” the building’s exterior as well as create new facilities for its guests.
“It can be said without hesitation that the proposed outcome is destined to provide a refreshed, softened and overall improved interface and pedestrian experience to Surfers Paradise Boulevard than that which currently occurs,” a planning report to councillors said.

The report describes the tower’s existing features as “austere” and talks up the changes will “ultimately allow for greater functionality of the development, while enacting the already exemplary standard of architectural merit for the built form.”
