IT’S been another big week on the Gold Coast.
The city’s homelessness crisis was firmly in the spotlight, with much discussion about the problem affecting the Southport CBD, and a homeless man in Burleigh getting fined $600 by council.
Also having a bad time were the Gold Coast Titans, who remain firmly stuck in the wooden spoon position.
A Gold Coast retiree was allegedly poisoned by smoke entering his property from a next door high rise construction site.
Later in the week, it was revealed subbies have been stung for half a billion dollars in builder collapses in the last six years.
Smoke was again a major issue on Thursday, with hinterland residents expressing their frustration with “endless” burn-offs.
On Friday residents were warned that mating season for snakes is getting into full swing, while council revealed plans for a new bike hire scheme.
The bikes might be needed by many Gold Coasters, with statistics showing thousands are struggling to pass their driving tests.
