A stolen car has been dumped and set on fire in the driveway of a Pimpama home.

Residents in Winchester Crescent woke to the sound of “popping and the smell of smoke at around 3am on Sunday as flames started to take hold of the white Mazda SUV.

The same car was spotted across the suburb earlier in the day with juveniles on board.

The offenders attempted to ignite the vehicle by setting fire to the rear bumper, not far from the petrol tank.

Firefighters managed to arrive at the address before the car became fully engulfed by flames.

Earlier in the day, the Mazda was seen driving erratically across the northern suburbs alongside another stolen sedan.

One of the vehicles is believed to have side swiped another motorists near the Pimpama City Shopping Centre.
