A Southport man has been killed in a horror motorcycle crash in the state’s southeast.

The man was travelling north along the Mount Lindsay Highway just south of Boonah-Rathdowney Rd at about 1.30pm Saturday when he left the road and struck a pole.

A passing motorist raised the alarm and provided first aid to the rider before emergency services arrived.

The 58-year-old Southport man died of his injuries at the scene.

Police are appealing for witnesses as the Forensic Crash Unit continues investigating the incident.

Anyone with dashcam footage of the crash or the moments leading up to it is urged to come forward.
