Gold Coast emergency services are urging for guardians to keep a closer eye on young children after two near drownings were reported within minutes of each other.

Queensland Fire and Emergency services were called to two separate near-drownings on Saturday morning on the Gold Coast.

At 9.20 paramedics were called to a private residence in Oxenford where a toddler was pulled from a pool.

An ambulance spokesperson said bystanders performed CPR on the child and they were then taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

At 9.30 paramedics were called to a near-drowning in a resort pool in Surfers Paradise.

They said it was a young girl who was pulled from the pool and the bystanders performed CPR.

When ambulances arrived they said she was conscious and then was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

An ambulance spokesperson said they hoped it would raise awareness for parents and guardians to always supervise children around pools.

“Always remain in arms distance of your children,” they said.

The spokesperson said the two incidents could have had a grim outcome if the bystanders did not know CPR and urged more people to learn.

These near-drownings only come two days after a woman who drowned after jumping off a pier in Southport.

The 25-year-old failed to surface after jumping off a jetty into the Broadwater while swimming with friends on Thursday.
