A massive search is in progress for a missing four-month-old dachshund reported as “stolen” from a rural Gold Coast home.

Owner Simone Inns has offered a cash reward for the safe return of her pup Miso, who was last seen at her Tallebudgera Valley property on October 30.

Ms Inns said neighbours reported seeing a grey 4WD, with a canoe attached to the roof, stop outside her property around the time Miso went missing.

“We think we’re close to finding the person who has taken him,” she said.

“I really just want him returned.”

Miso is a sandy and black coloured long-haired dachshund.

Ms Inns has reported the incident to police and hired private investigators.

A police spokeswoman confirmed the investigation was ongoing.

Ms Inns said dog theft had become a big issue on the Gold Coast.

“It’s not just about my dog, it’s about dog theft on the Gold Coast - it’s a massive issue,” the Tallebudgera woman said.

“Other dogs are getting stolen. It’s an undercurrent that we haven’t really been exposing.”

Last year, Biggie the two-year-old British bulldog was reported “stolen” from his family’s Gaven home.

Almost 30,000 people across the country rallied in a desperate search for the dog, but the beloved pet pooch still has not been reunited with his owners.

The family offered a $5000 reward for the safe return of Biggie, who “has health issues and cannot be used for breeding”.

Sightings were reported across southeast Queensland, including in Ipswich and Logan, but some claimed to have spotted the missing dog as far south as Sydney.

Anyone with information about missing Miso is urged to phone 0418 348 775.
