Gold Coast Uncovered: Outrage over bikinis

A COMPLAINT about scantily clad people using beaches as a backdrop for early morning “porn” photo shoots has sparked fierce debate on social media, with some hilarious results.

It all started when a resident took to the Gold Coast Community Noticeboard Facebook group questioning whether the activity was allowed.

“Our beaches are often used for advertising for products, but are also used for porn photos early in the morning,” the resident wrote in a post.

“Especially at (Tallebudgeera) and Palm Beach.

“It might be appreciated by lovers of this stuff, but the general public don’t need to witness it.

“Is this OK GC council, or do they need to register with you first?”

The resident went on to explain she had seen a “young lady with legs spread, costume pulled aside to show total buttocks, lying in the sand” at Tallebudgeera Creek on Wednesday morning.

“By all means, do your porn shots for those tossers who need it, but not on a public beach with people walking,” she said.

While some were quick to label the poster a “Karen”, others agreed that it was a reasonable complaint.

“Go back in time 30 years ago, respectable locals would not be cool with this,” Breeannah Johnson commented.

Others praised those involved in the photo shoots for having body confidence and inspiring others to do the same.

“Men have been telling women how to dress for thousands of years, so let females finally have their freedom,” Qualen Smith added.

“Body confidence is key. If you love yourself then nothing else should matter.”

Others saw the lighter side of the situation, with Kevin Ormsby commenting: “Disgusted, must go down tomorrow and gather evidence for this case”.

A Gold Coast City Council spokeswoman said taking photos for recreational purposes was permitted on local beaches.

“Conducting photo shoots for commercial purposes is a regulated activity under Local Law No. 10 (Bathing Reserves) and requires a permit,” she said.

“Indecent exposure is a police matter.”
