A firm that operates the Couran Cove water supply system is seeking to liquidate a caretaking company at the troubled island community.
Water engineering company Simmonds & Bristow has applied to wind up South Stradbroke Caretaking Services over a $124,000 debt.
Simmonds & Bristow specialises in engineering services, sampling, testing and monitoring of water systems in regional and remote areas, as well as design, start-up, operations and maintenance services.
Couran Cove Island Resort infrastructure operator Simon Napoli confirmed South Stradbroke Caretaking was one of the island’s contractors and declined to answer any questions about the proposed wind-up.
In a statement, Mr Napoli said any questions relating to the company should addressed by its director.
South Stradbroke Caretaking Services is solely directed by Salisbury man William Doolen, 77, while its shares are owned by another company, Archmich.
Archmich is solely directed and owned by Anastasios Demos.
Mr Doolen was only appointed a director in February.
Previous director Cassandra Elizabeth Gillespie, 36, was a director from when the company was first registered in August 2020 until March 17 this year.
The Bulletin attempted to reach Mr Doolen for comment.
Symmonds & Bristow is solely directed and held by water engineer David Bristow, 59.
In his affidavit for the wind-up action, Mr Bristow said South Stradbroke Caretaking owed his company $124,778 for water and infrastructure services provided at Couran Cove between September last year and February this year.
The caretaking company was yet to file a response to the wind-up application.
The matter was heard in the Supreme Court on Thursday, with a further directions hearing scheduled for June 7.
