Two gunmen are on the run after storming a home on the Northern Gold Coast overnight and witnesses say they opened fire on one of the residents inside.
Families including children, witnessed the violent confrontation on Cobalt Circuit, Coomera just after 7pm.
Witnesses said they saw two offenders kicking in the front door to the property, a few minutes later an argument and shouting was heard before a spray of gunfire filled the street.
Resident Taylor Robinson who was sitting in her garage and witnessed the dispute as it unfolded said one of the offenders was wearing a mask and gloves.
“They pulled a guy from inside the house and brought him out the front. He was yelling ‘just f*cking shoot me, kill me then’ and they were asking him questions but I couldn’t quite hear” she said.
“The guy tried to run from them and that’s when they opened fire, he jumped the ute in the driveway and ran down the street.
“There must have been at least four, maybe five loud bangs. It was really scary, my little daughter was next to me”.
At least two of the bullets struck the ute parked on the front lawn, leaving large holes in the tray.
The gunmen were seen speeding off in a white Haval SUV.
It’s understood a pregnant women who lives at the address had just pulled-up in the driveway as the gunshots rang out.
No one was injured during the home invasion and the occupants of the property have declined to comment on the matter.
Police and forensics attended the address overnight and are appealing for witnesses or anyone with CCTV and dashcam in the area to contact Crime Stoppers or 131 444.
