Queensland Fire and Emergency Services were called to a unit block on the Corner of Loder St and Brisbane Rd in Biggera Waters around 4.30am.

A QFES spokesperson said when they arrived a unit on the second floor of the three-storey complex was “well-involved”.

An ambulance spokesperson said they assessed two people and one woman was taken to Gold Coast University hospital in a stable condition with smoke inhalation.

Another declined transport.

The old-style units on the corner of Loder St were standing but extensive damage could be seen to one of the units.

Energex crews were on scene around 6.30am inspecting the powerlines for damage.

Ali Haru said his aunt lived in the complex and woke up to smell the fire.

“She just saw fire and just got in her car and started honking so everyone would wake up,” he said.

He said his aunt had been taken to hospital for smoke inhalation.

A Queensland fire spokesperson said they were able to get the fire under control and left the scene around 6.20am.
