A FAMOUS Coast carvery is reopening on the Gold Coast Coast with a twist on its retro cuisine.
Anyone who remembers the 1980s on the Gold Coast would have vivid memories
of Surfer’s Paradise’s Porky’s Ribs.
After an absence of 27 years, Porky’s has officially reopened at Lakeview Shopping Centre in Mermaid Waters.
Owner Rob Campbell said the carvery sold his favourite comfort food back in the day, which prompted him to secure the intellectual property rights and bring the roast back to the Coast.
“It’s been eight years in the making and I am so excited we can now all enjoy it again,” he said.
“The 80s and 90s were great times on the Coast with an iconic night-life scene underpinned by venues such as Melba’s, The Penthouse, and The Bombay Rock.
“I am excited to bring back memories to those who also loved that era and the old Porky’s.”
The institution was originally located in Surfers Paradise’s Tara Village Resort, where the
50 Cavil Ave tower now stands.
The new Porky’s menu has steered away from fast-food, trading a deep fryer for a modern day airfryer.
Family meals including pork, beef, chicken ribs and barbecue chooks, along with ready-to-eat meals and salads are available in-store and for delivery.
