A man who allegedly started a brawl has been caught by police after several people were injured at a Gold Coast night spot.
Gold Coast police were called to The Atrium Bar at The Star Casino in Broadbeach at about 11pm on Saturday May 13.
Police allege a 36-year-old man hit a 21-year-old man in the face, leaving him bleeding from his lip.
It is understood the 36-year-old old then hit a 54-year-old man.
Police allege a bystander attempted to then throw a glass at the 36-year-old, but missed him and hit a 20-year-old – which left the younger man bleeding.
A Gold Coast local who wished to remain anonymous said they were on the dance floor when it “erupted” and the “whole floor scattered”.
The witness said they were dancing around a group of elderly people and pushed them behind their group to block people from knocking them over.
“The lady behind me was mid 60s,” they said.
“I just saw a bunch of guys throwing heavy punches.”
The witness said they believed there was at least 10 people involved in the brawl before security got involved and separated them.
The 36-year-old is alleged to have fled the scene and was then caught by police on the corner of the Gold Coast Highway and T E Peters drive.
Police are continuing to investigating the incident.
The Star Casino declined to make a comment.
