Plastic Free July: Gold Coast skincare company MooGoo saves thousands of bottles with discounted refills

One of Australia’s most popular skincare companies is offering big discounts and free products at its Gold Coast head office if customers do one simple thing. See the list of products that qualify.

IN honour of Plastic Free July, a Gold Coast skincare company is cutting back on waste by offering big discounts on refills.

The all natural company MooGoo, which has developed more than 40 products and creams for problematic skin, is going even greener.

Customers will receive a 30 per cent discount on all refills when they fill up at the Burleigh Heads company’s head office, in an effort to save thousands of plastic bottles.

The biggest price slash is a saving of $43.50 which can had by refilling a five litre bottle of Milk Wash, valued at $145.

MOOGOO SKINCARE BEGINS REFILLING PLASTIC CONTAINERS TO SAVE ON WASTE

Previous events have seen MooGoo save 2935 plastic bottles, estimating to be about 147kgs of reused plastic containers, tubes and bottles.

MooGoo founder and CEO Craig Jones said he knows the company can’t go completely plastic free but they “try our best”.

“Our tubes are made with 30 per cent post-consumer recycled (PCR) and are recyclable at end of life,” he said.

Craig Jones developed MooGoo at a Perth dairy farm in 2005.

“We make our bottles with plastic that would have otherwise gone to landfill, and we make our products in Australia, reducing our carbon footprint.

“That’s why we have our Refill Events. (We) encourage our customers to buy bulk and refill.”

Most of the creams — which help those with irritable skin and itchy scalps for kids, adults and bubs — are made in Queensland’s first carbon neutral facility that uses solar power and recycles its own water.
