The Bulletin has previously reported that on the day of the murder Taylor allegedly took two containers of firearms to the Doolandella address of another man — Dylan Bock — after receiving a phone call from detectives.

An affidavit by a Taskforce Maxima Detective filed in the Supreme Court of Queensland alleges Taylor is a person of interest in Bowden’s murder on October 12. He has not been charged over Bowden’s death.

Taylor is charged with supply of firearms, 12 counts of possessing a modified firearm and one count of possessing explosives.

Bock has also been charged with a string of weapon offences.

Police said the weapons were not believed to have been involved with Bowden’s death.

It is alleged in the affidavit that police called a phone number looking for an “Alex Taylor” hours after Bowden died. The number was allegedly listed during the purchase of the cars.

Police allege Taylor told them they had the wrong number and that the phone was switched off and not used again.

On October 20, police seized a phone allegedly belonging to Taylor. It is alleged in court documents that a screenshot of a Facebook message from Taylor to Bock read: “I’m actually quite pissed off with the whole situation tbh (to be honest) because unlike yourself I’m actually being tailed around, so now emptying your spot is a complete no no unless I figure out a way to move it without being seen going there.

“The part that actually has me upset is the fact that I ran a massive risk moving to yours and you’re freaking out.

“Next time don’t say yes to it going there if ya can’t handle it because this is actually a joke how much your (sic) stressing about it.”

Police allege in the court documents that Taylor’s anger at Bock for being “worried about the firearms” and the “nature of the conversation” showed he held a “higher position” over Bock within the club and a “position of influence” over him.

It is alleged that on October 12 Bock’s mother helped Taylor unload a container into her garage.

When Bock’s mother commented on the heaviness of one container, Taylor claimed there were two car motors inside, police allege in court documents. There is no suggestion she knew what was inside the containers and has not been charged.

Taylor was refused bail in the Supreme Court in Brisbane before Christmas. His mother’s partner had offered a $10,000 surety and employment at his Toowoomba sex shop.

Regional Crime Coordinator Detective Superintendent Brendan Smith said police were “starting to identify additional people of interest” in Bowden’s murder.

“We’re there for the long haul and the community can be confident that the people who are responsible will be brought to justice in the fullness of time,” Supt Smith said.

“We start with quite a wide net and we focus in as things change, and that net is slowly getting smaller.”
