Filming for the third season of a popular Nickelodeon show has begun on the Gold Coast and they say they are “thrilled” to be back in the city.

Screen Queensland have supported the return of the popular Nickelodeon International and Network 10 children’s series, Rock Island Mysteries on the Gold Coast.

Season three follows the adventures of Taylor and her friends while they solve mysteries on the fictional ‘Rock Island’.

Arts Minister Leeanne Enoch said the third season – entirely filmed on the Gold Coast – will inject up to $10 million into the Queensland economy.

“This production is also a wonderful investment in Queensland’s up-and-coming screen professionals with several hands-on training opportunities for local creatives,” Ms Enoch said.

The series will use the Gold Coast’s Pinnacle Film Studios in Helensvale and The Post Lounge in Woolloongabba, plus other scenic locations.

The show was previously filmed at HOTA and Sea World.

Screen Queensland chief creative officer Dr Belinda Burns said the series was important for younger Australian audiences.

“Its return underscores the importance of investing in diverse and engaging programming for children, fostering their imagination and curiosity,” she said.

The show will be produced by Freemantle Australia and released on Network 10 and Paramount+ Australia in 2024.

Paramount Global managing director and executive vice president Jules Borkent said they were they were “thrilled” to be back on the Gold Coast with “passionate” cast and crew.

Fremantle Australia’s executive producer Brett Popplewell said they were proud of their contribution to Queensland as a hub for world-class entertainment production.

“(We will) bring to life a new season of stories using the best the Gold Coast has to offer,” he said.

“Rock Island Mysteries shines brightly for us at Nickelodeon.”
