Police and fire investigators will spend Tuesday combing through the damage after a blaze tore through a Gold Coast scrap metal yard.
The flames were spotted about 9pm on Monday night on Harper St, Molendinar industrial complex leading to making an emergency declaration and closing the area to the public.
The exclusion zone included Harper St, Herbertson Dr, Geary Cres and Kamholtz Crt.
It took 12 firefighters about an hour to control the blaze.
Police did not reopen the area until about 1.30am on Tuesday.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services Inspector Mark Walding said police and fire investigators would be at Adrian Scrap Metal – Scrap Metal Collections determining the cause of the fire.
“We didn’t get much of an opportunity last night with the firefighting that had to take place first,” he said.
“It wasn’t a widespread fire, it was a deep-seated fire so it was difficult to get to the seat of the fire and get it extinguished.”
Insp Walding said the fire was contained to the scrap metal yard and was not a threat to neighbouring businesses.
