A new dessert shop on the Gold Coast is serving the viral Dubai pistachio strawberries with melted chocolate drizzled on top, and residents say they are “obsessed”.

A new Gold Coast eatery is serving an internet-famous Dubai dessert closer to home — and residents say they are “obsessed”.

Marek Balogh opened Swieetie Desserts in Harbour Town shopping centre on March 7 and the rave reviews are already in.

The shop, which is next to Woolworths, features chimney cakes alongside the viral Dubai strawberries.

“The (Dubai strawberries) have become so popular because we use only the highest quality ingredients including premium pistachio sauce, hand-prepared kataifi pastry, fresh strawberries and melted Belgian chocolate,” Swieetie manager Marketa Lines said.

Mr Balogh was inspired by the popularity of chimney cakes in Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and other European countries where the treat is often made at street markets.

“He chose Harbour Town because of its high foot traffic and locations,” Mrs Lines said.

She said they sold an average of 900 Dubai strawberries every week and she spent more than three hours every morning cutting up the fruit.

Swieetie Desserts has 4.9 stars on Google reviews and one customer said they were “absolutely obsessed”.

“I’m so happy that I ended up being able to try this viral food,” they said.

“It combines chimney cake and ice cream, so you know it can’t go wrong at all.”
