Police are searching for witnesses to an alleged bashing which has left a Gold Coast man in a serious condition in hospital.

Gold Coast police and emergency services were called to an incident at a cemetery along Mylor St, near Bushmead St, in Nerang on November 9 around 2pm.

Police said reports revealed four adults were involved in an altercation which left a 49-year-old with serious injuries.

The 49-year-old Nerang man was said to have a significant head injury when he was assessed by paramedics who rushed him to Gold Coast University Hospital.

The man remains in hospital in a serious condition.

A 51-year-old Nerang man was also assessed by paramedics at the scene, however he was taken to hospital for treatment for minor injuries.

Officers spoke to two other men at the scene after the incident and were assisting police with inquiries.

Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage from the area to call them on 131 444.

Investigations are ongoing.

Confronting images of a man who was allegedly critically bashed at a Gold Coast graveyard have been posted to social media.

The man was left fighting for life in Gold Coast University Hospital after an altercation involving up to four males at Nerang Cemetery late Thursday afternoon.

A woman who said she was the victim’s sister posted a Facebook photo of him on life support in hospital.

“That’s my brother on life support,” she wrote.

“These guys have been picking on him for years. 4 on one.

“My brother has brain damage from an accident 30 years ago. These pieces of s. t like to pick on a person with a brain injury and in a pack like a bunch of mongrel dogs.

“Our family feels like it’s deja vu going through this again.”

Police were called to Bushmead St and Mylor St - near the Nerang Cemetery - at 1.30pm to reports of an altercation between a group of males.

Two men were allegedly assaulted.

A spokesperson for Queensland Ambulance Service confirmed a man in his 40s sustained serious head injuries and was transported to Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.

A man in his 50s who sustained head injuries is in a stable condition.

A Queensland Police Service spokesperson said no complaints were forthcoming.

Police have declared a crime scene and are investigating.
